My Grandpa and Dad had a collection, so i would look through them and that made me want to start collecting. It slowed down for a bit because they stopped collecting, but i was occasionally still buying cards and packs. I'd say it fully started up again 7 years ago when my son Curtis was born. It brought back the memories of having fun again like i did when i was young with my dad and grandpa.
Do you remember the first card you ever got excited about? What was it?
I would say any Whitesox card when i was younger because that's all my Dad and Grandpa collected. It would probably have been a Frank Thomas or Ozzie Guillen card- any pulls of those guys and i got excited.
Favorite sports to collect:
Football, Baseball, Hockey, Nascar, and Basketball
Vikings, Whitesox, Blackhawks, Bulls, and (for my son) the Predators.
What is your PC?
My PC is simple. All of my favorite teams listed above. But as far as individuals: Dale Earnhardt Jr, Kurt Busch, Brad Keselowski, Mark Martin, Nascar HOF, Allen Robinson, and Ryan Nassib.
If you could add one card to your collection right now, what would it be?
An Adrian Peterson auto, and Bud Grant auto- after that i would be pretty happy with my Vikings collection.
Who are some guys/businesses in the hobby that you enjoy?
i don't want to add people's names to this because i don't want someone's feelings to get hurt.
That's why i don't do Follow Friday anymore because i felt like i was missing names and felt bad.
The people who know me and read this know who i think are the good guys and gals for the hobby.
How do you feel about the state of the hobby? Is there anything you'd like to see change/improve?
Well, from what i see going on with twitter is that there is a new hobby and an older hobby. Some of us who have been around for a while don't necessarily like the new way. Like when i started twitter in 2009, there were only about 5 breakers, and everyone was a little more respectful of what prices people put on cards (less low-balling). But I guess everything has to change over time. It's like when our parents were growing up they weren't fans of the new ways we did things either.
