The ol' redemption waiting game

There is nothing in the collecting world quite as frustrating as an unfulfilled redemption sitting in sports card purgatory.

Currently, I am waiting on a Julian Edelman Autograph that I redeemed with Topps back in 2014. Oh, how it would be nice to have that card in hand now, as the Patriots are back in the super bowl.

Now, this isn't always the case with redemptions- I've seen some come in just months later, while others just never arrive.

So what is it with the "cool" factor about redemptions? Because, as frustrating as they are to pull, there is something that's kind of fun about plugging that code in and anticipating what the card is going to look like.

In a perfect world, we'd have no redemptions in collecting, because sometimes the promise of a certain autograph feels more like an empty political promise of a fired-up government official.

What is your take on redemptions? Do you wish them all away?

What's the longest you've ever waited on a redemption before receiving it or getting a replacement?
